Why choose an at home session?

Between the new baby bliss you’ll be feeling, and the haze of sleeplessness that will come and go.. There’s no sugar coating it - those first few weeks and months with your new addition can be hard.

The idea of having photos taken during this time might be a little overwhelming, especially thinking how you’re going to manage to take this new lil human out on location somewhere, and wrangling the other kids/family members, and keeping the sun and flies away, whilst still looking your best and trying to somewhat enjoy the experience.

Your home is the place you and your family feel most comfortable - so I tend to find that most people are actually less stressed having photos taken in the comfort of home. And as new parents, you’ll have everything right at hand should you need it for yourselves or for your new addition during your shoot.

AND Your fur babies are welcome!!

When we think of family, a great number of us think of our fur-babies too. An at home session gives you a perfect chance to capture their part in your family too.

What if my house isn’t spotless?

Your house doesn’t have to be spotless. In fact, the only suggestion I normally have is to have a fresh bedspread and tidy up any clutter in the main bedroom, or in the room with the best light - which is generally where most of your photos will be, or at least start out.

As for having to madly run around tidying up - please don’t worry too much. Not only do I have four kids of my own and know what the chaos of newborns and kids in general can be like, we can always manoeuvre any distractions out of the background if we really need to - and we can work just in your favourite spaces within the home if you would prefer too.

The Memories

The nostalgia of looking back at these images in years to come is also one of my favourite things about these types of sessions - that couch you snuggled on pre-kids, the nursery setup you spent months planning, the blanket grandma made, that teddy you bought as soon as you found out you were pregnant - all of these things come together to help form the story of your new addition to the family.
